In recent years the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra (SSO) has achieved considerable artistic development and has attracted steadily larger audiences, both in Norway and abroad. In September 2012 the orchestra moved into Stavanger’s new concert hall, with two main halls that are acoustically on a par with the very best in Europe.

Christian Vasquez has held the post of chief conductor since 2013 and Fabio Biondi is the Artistic Director of SSO’s early music programme.

Qualified candidates may be invited to audition in Stavanger on the 4. and 5. June 2016.
The programme for that audition will be Honegger: Intrada, plus orchestral excerpts.

Yearly salary: NOK 517.424 – 586.176 (after 16 years).
Approx. 38 working weeks a year. The section plays on piston valved trumpets, and occasionally German/rotary valved trumpets, piccolo trumpets, cornets and natural trumpets as required.
