The new concert year is inaugurated with a fireworks display of classical gems. The duo of Ole Christoffer Ertvaag and Per Kjerstad will guide us through the evening.

New Year’s concerts are a proud tradition for the Stavanger Symphony Orchestra. The combination of lively music, humor, and an informal atmosphere makes these concerts a musical celebration and a perfect entrance to the new year. On the podium, you’ll also find this season’s six young orchestra talents.

Caroline Wettergreen is one of Norway’s most sought-after singers and the soloist for the Friday and Saturday concerts. She made her debut at the Norwegian Opera & Ballet in 2010 and regularly performs at opera houses across Europe. In 2018, Caroline received the prestigious Equinor Classical Music Scholarship. For the Sunday concert, the evening’s soloist is soprano Lina Johnson from Austevoll. She has received education from the Norwegian Academy of Music, the Royal Danish Academy of Music, and the Opera Academy in Copenhagen, and has won several prizes and competitions.

The evening’s hosts are the duo Ole Christoffer Ertvaag and Per Kjerstad, two actors and friends dealing with obsessive thoughts, temperaments, health anxiety, and fear of flying as they help each other navigate through life as best they can.
