Rachmaninov & Stravinsky
Rachmaninov & Stravinsky
Two masterpieces fill the concert hall with virtuosity and colourful orchestral brilliance this evening.
PLEASE NOTE: New concert time – all subscription concerts now start at 7:00 PM.
Rachmaninov’s Piano Concerto No. 3 is one of the most demanding and monumental works in the repertoire. After the interval, we encounter Stravinsky’s Petrushka, the vivid and rhythmically vibrant ballet about the tragic puppet Petrushka. With its sparkling orchestral colours and driving energy, the work is considered one of the most groundbreaking orchestral works of the 20th century.
