SSO is searching for an inspiring and enthusiastic concertmaster who identifies with our values; Open, present and engaged.

In addition to being an excellent player with deep knowledge of orchestra repertoire and fantastic abilities as a soloist, our new concertmaster must also cultivate outstanding leadership, pedagogic and communication skills, as the job involves giving direction, offering guidance, resolving problems, interpreting direction from the conductor for musicians, and vice versa.
The concertmaster will work closely with Andris Poga, our new chief conductor as well as the section leaders, principal musicians and the administrative management. The concertmaster we are looking for will be a unifying leader for the whole orchestra.
Program for auditions (with our pianist):
Mozart: any Violin concerto (free choice) 1. and 2. movement with cadenza and 1. movement with cadenza of a Violin Concerto by Beethoven, Brahms, Sibelius or Tchaikovsky.

Audition for invited candidates in Stavanger konserthus will be announced later due to the corona situation.
We require applicants to submit a video recording of the first movement of a Mozart concerto of choice. We adhere to the authorities’ advice and orders regarding Corona and if necessary we will postpone the audition.
