«The Talent Search» is a project with the talent development program by Equinor called “Morgendagens Helter” (the Heros of Tomorrow), where talented your is selected after a test play. They will get the opportunity to play at four orchestra productions through the concert season under close supervision by musicians at the SSO. They will by this have the chance to see how is is to play as a professional musician at an orchestra.
The talents from the 2017/2018 season is four youths, two from Stavanger, one from Lura in Sandnes and one from Haugesund. A total of 31 talented youths have played with the SSO through the Talent Search. Ms. Christine Oseland participated as a talent in the 2012/2013 season and was hired permanently as a viola in 2017. Many of the previous talents have been hired permanently in professional orchestras or are used as freelance musicians.
If you are from 12 to 18 years old you do have a unique opportunity to try to be an orchestra musician at. professional level at Stavanger Symfoniorkester!
After a test play a selection of young musicians will have the opportunity to participate at four orchestra productions with the SSO through the 2018-2019 season.
You have to play an orchestra instrument and you will have the same assignments as the musicians in the orchestra. The talent search is a project in collaboration in-between the SSO and the Equinox talent development program, Morgendagens helter (the Heros of Tomorrow).
APPLICATION To apply you have to send the following information by e-mail to project coordinator Ms. Ingvild Rosenberg.
NAME, DATE OF BIRTH, ADDRESS, E-MAIL ADDRESS og TELEPHONE You also have to include which instrument you are playing, who is your professor, where you are taught and for how long you have played.
NB: We also need the name of your parents/legal guardian and contact information (telephone and e-mail)
Of you are a member of Rogaland Ungdomssymfoniorkester, Rogaland Ungdomskorps or another ensamble/ band it will be helpful if this is mentioned in the e-mail. We are looking forward to see your application.
DEADLINE Deadline for signing up for the test play Tuesday 23. April 2018.
TESTPLAY The test play will be held at Stavanger konserthus Tuesday 3rd of May 3.00 pm to 8.00 pm. A jury of musicians from the SSO will select the talents based on the test play.
