The Stavanger Symphony Orchestra (SSO) has become one of Scandinavia’s most successful orchestras. The orchestra has experienced significant artistic development in recent years together with an increase in audience numbers, both in Norway and abroad.
The new internationally acclaimed concert hall, from 2012, has contributed to the SSO’s further growth. The Orchestra is a democratic organization where the musicians have a unique opportunity to influence both artistic development and working conditions. Andris Poga will take up his position as our Chief Conductor from 2021.

Audition for invited candidates in Stavanger konserthus will be announced later due to the corona situation.
We require applicants to submit a video recording of the first movement of a Mozart concerto of choice. We adhere to the authorities’ advice and orders regarding Corona and if necessary we will postpone the audition.
