More than 30 years of New Year’s concerts have made this a strong tradition for Stavanger Symphony Orchestra.

This year’s soloist, mezzo-soprano Adrian Angelico, is part of a new generation of Norwegian opera singers who are achieving great success both nationally and internationally.

As part of ongoing research on classical music audiences, there will be an infrared video camera and lights above the parterre seats to record patterns of movement across the audience. By construction, this system of measurement does not capture personal or identifiable information about individual audience members, and no information about individual ticket purchasers will be linked to these measurements. These video recordings will be further abstracted to general descriptors of motion for scientific analysis and publication. This research is conducted in the Public Interest!
