Sloane extends his contract

Stavanger Symphony Orchestra’s Chief Conductor, Steven Sloane, will accompany the orchestra into Stavanger’s new concert hall. Sloane and SSO have extended their contract for two further years until the summer of 2013.

Nine new positions for orchestral musicians

Stavanger Symphony Orchestra is growing. In the run-up to the opening of our new concert hall, the Orchestra has received funding to enlarge its complement of musicians in 2009. We are now announcing nine available positions, mainly for strings, with a view to making appointments in August.

The complete orchestral works of Fartein Valen on CD

For a hundred years, performances of Fartein Valen’s music have been impaired by flaws and omissions in the scores. Stavanger Symphony Orchestra’s three new CDs will at last do justice to this mystical, iconic composer.
